Help yourself

July 19th, 2008

Writing can help you open up. It’s like a pipe from the reservoir of your thoughts, which maintains an equilibrium to the state of your mind. The more it flows out, the more you let in. Too full, and it might explode - for there is (or might be) no other opening to overflow.

The most beautiful part about writing is that you can pen down your feelings - in the way you share them with your loved ones, or maybe even in a greater level of trust. It’s closer to you, it can keep your secrets till you want it to and amongst all, it doesn’t question you, it doesn’t mock you. I guess that’s what most people are concerned about when letting out their feelings - that they will be laughed at. While writing, you just let out your feelings for you to read and analyze. You own words speak back at you and it feels like there’s someone that understands and feels the same way as you do. I know it sounds kind of crazy this way but it’s not, if you give it a second thought. It helps a lot when you’re down and out, left out and lonelier than the rest.

We speak to ourselves a lot. Maybe all the time. When we write, we speak to ourselves and also see what we spoke - a part of it or both sides of the conversation. We can choose between our thoughts that way. We can look back at it later and decide which one was right at that time. I cannot clarify what I’m trying to say with this - I hope you understand.

Keep those thoughts and feelings flowing. Help yourself. Cheers!

Please visit my poetry blog at wordpress for more of my poetry.

me and the world

when i think that i’m strong
this world
shouts that i’m wrong

when i feel fit and fine
i never seem
to have enough time

and when life is easy,
i need some pain
to keep me busy

that’s me
and the world around me
and i feel good
that i’m at peace
with the voices that give me company.
my friends and foes,
even when they are gone
i talk to myself -
i’m never alone.
